River Rd., Zanesville, OH 43701) of the Muskingum Co. OGS found a copy of the death certificates for Alva Petet and his wife Jane Hearing (not Haren). According to these records Alva's parents were Thomas and Jane Petet both born in PA. Her father was David Hearing. Alva's obituary, from The Weekly Herald of 30 July 1914, was sent to me by Morgan County Ohio researcher Cris Reed (Rt. 1, Malta, OH 43758). Mr. Pettet Dead Mr. Alva Petet died Wednesday afternoon, July 22, at his home in Zanesville, after a week's illness of infirmities. He was 80 years of age, and was born near Porterville. After moving to Zanesville, he became superintendent of the Harris Bros.' brick plant, and later he was employed at a rolling mill. Surviving him are the widow, who was Miss Jane Hearing, and two sons, Joseph D. Petet, lieutenant of police, Zanesville, and Thomas Petet of New York, head of the Petet family of acrobats, who are doing vaudeville in the east. On Friday morning the body was taken to Porterville where the funeral services were held.
