               Will of John Pettit of Accomack County, VA - 1784

       In the name of God Amen  this  20th  day  of December 1784 I John
       Pettit of Accomack County in the State of  Virginia  do  make and
       ordain  this  my  last  Will  and  Testament  in  manner and form
       following.
       
       Item I give to my son Thomas Pettit ten pounds cash,
       
       Item I give all the remainder  of my estate after paying my debts
       to be equally divided amongst my loving wife  Mary  Pettit and my
       four  children  namely Rachel Wright, Mary Pettit, George Pettit,
       and Thomas Pettit, to them and their heirs forever.
       
       Lastly I appoint my loving  wife  Mary  Pettit  and my son in law
       Henry Wright Executors of this my last Will and Testament.

       At a Court held in Accomack County April 27th 1785
       
       This  Will  was  proved  by the oath of Charles Bagwell a witness
       thereto and ordered to  be  recorded,  and  on the motion of Mary
       Pettit & Henry Wright taking oath and giving Richard Grinalds and
       George   Middleton  for  their  security  who  entered  into  and
       acknowledged a bond for  that purpose certificate is granted them
       obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
